How do you know what can be done on your plot when you have a construction project?

You have a construction project on your plot but you don’t know how to find out which rules apply.

There are several things to check.

The first rules are those of urban planning law. You must therefore check whether a local urban planning plan (PLU) is applicable to your plot and in which zone you are located. This will allow you to know the applicable rules. Depending on your plot, other rules may have to be respected: coastal law, risk prevention plan (fires, floods, submersion, etc.)

Next, you should check whether you are part of a subdivision and whether it has specifications or regulations. If so, you must comply with the rules set out there.

Finally, you must respect the rules of the civil code concerning views, plantations and other rules.

Obtaining a building permit for a plot of land does not determine whether the rules of the subdivision or the civil code are respected.
